21st Century Toys' Navy Seal with Stoner Machine Gun

The Navy SEALs proved that they were the best of the best in Vietnam with a kill ratio of 200:1. Among the weapons they used was the versatile Stoner machine gun. Never adopted by the army, the Stoner machine gun was a modular gas operated machine gun that could be adapted to any situation. For more info on the Stoner machine gun check out this site here. Now on to the review...

One look at this guy and you'll be frightened. Maybe because he's a badass Vietnam Navy Seal. Maybe because he's got a badass Stoner machine gun. Or maybe it's 21st's paintjob on this guy's face. His face isn't painted bad nessessarily, it's the flesh tones around his eyes and on his mouth that freak me out. It's a little too red so it looks like he's bleeding around the eyes and mouth. Other than that, his head is great. A good sculpt with a heavy mustache. His face is fully painted unlike the prototype which was only partially painted. Looks good except that his hands don't really match with the rest of the figure now. I suggest you paint them or put some green gloves on them.
He wears tiger stripe BDU's with black buttons. Very nicely made and fit the figure like a glove. Comes with a matching tiger stripe beret. He also comes with a Vietnam era belt and H-harness. Pouches include two ammo pouches with grenades molded to them, two canteens (with opening cap!), one butpack, and one pouch that I think is a first aid pouch which is attached to the H-harness in the back. All of these are nicely weathered and detailed. Included in the set is a floatation device which fits around the soldier's neck. It's too bad that this thing is molded and not made of a more realistic material as it is hard to put on and even harder to take off. Once on, it looks good though so I won't complain too much. His shoes look like converse all stars and are light grey. They're nicely weathered and look cool enough. You could use these for a civilian figure if you wanted to.
Finally we come to his weapons. His primary weapon is the Stoner machine gun. It is in a medium machine gun configuration and has a 100 round ammo box. I wish this figure came with some of these ammo boxes in a molded pouch; it doesn't make sense to not have more ammo stored on your belt. It's also too bad you can't dissassemble the gun in any way as there are six ways that this gun was configured. It also had a quick change barrel. Oh well, maybe if they make a Stoner Weapon Set...Anyway, this gun is molded nicely and is quite accurate to the real thing. There is a peg on the bottom of the barrel grip which I am hoping is for a tripod.
His secondary weapon is a pistol with silencer permanantly attached. It is silver and is weathered. There is no holster so he must carry it in his belt. Next is his combat knife. The proto has his knife on his H-harness, but in actuality this seams impossible. I tried attaching it to the flotaion device's strap but this didn't look good. Since Seals did a lot of kills up close and personal, this guy NEEDS to have a knife! Where did you put yours? I'm going to try putting it on his belt.
The last weapons this guy comes with are the LAWs. These are a kind of disposeable rocket launcher that was very light, simple, and fired only once. One LAW is permanantly in its closed position. It has a strap but it's useless since it has no slack whatsoever so you can't put it around your guy's shoulder. I guess he can carry it in his hand though. The other LAW can be opened to firing position with two sights that flip up.
Overall this is a very cool figure with only minor shortcomings. The good far outweighs the bad. Hmmm... I feel like I'm forgetting something....of course!!! The MONKEY!!! How could I forget this loveable guy? You get this nicely sculpted little monkey with a sort of frieghtened look on his face. He fits nicely on the shoulder of your SAM and gives an extra touch of "life" to the set. A nice addition indeed. Well there you have it. An awsome set for an awsome SEAL! Highly recommended.
